FIRES DESTROY TWENTY-SIX THOUSAND ON TWO STATIONS LOSSES IN NEW SOUTH WALES

Rec. Dec. 31, 9.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Thursday. A grass fire which swept Coree sheep station, near Narrandera, destroyed 20,000 sheep which were unable to escape'from the flames. On an adjoining station 6,000 sheep perished as well as a considerable number of tcattle. The heat \vave prevailing in the southern portion of New South Wales is causing extensive bush and grass fires in the wheat and pastoral areas.
