HEROIC RESCUE OF CREW
. — By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. Dec. 30, 7.0 p.m. HELSINGFORS, Tues. Striking a reef during a violent storm on the Coast of Finland, the Finland Steamship Company's steamer, Orient, became a total wreclc. Terrific seas flooded the vessel, and washed away the wireless room. It was impossible to lower boats, hut the crew burned flares and attracted the attention of salvage boats which rescued ten of the crew and a woman passenger, leaving nine, including the captain, on board. A lifeboat crew put out at midnight and took off the remainder, but was 'missing all day long. Blizzards swept them out to sea. They remained foodless and waterless until they reached a lightship, which took them on board. All were exhausted and some were injured. *
