FATAL COLLISION ON FAMOUS UNLUCKY SPOT ON THAMES LOSB OF NINE LIVES

LONDON, Monday. The unlucky spot in the Thames known as "Galleon's Reaeh," near Woolwich, where in 1878 the pleasure steamer Princess Alice sank after a collision, with the loss of nearly 700 lives was th.e scene of a collision between the well known steamship American Trader from New York and the tug Royalist. The latter sank in the darkness. Nine were drowned, there being only one survivor.
