ROTORUA CHRISTMAS TOURNEY PROVIDES BRIGHT CONTESTS LOCAL PLAYERS PROMINENT The Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club's annual Christmas championship and handicap tournament, which was commenced on Christmas Day, was continued on Saturday and yesterday. When play eeased yesterday the number of matches still to be contested had been reduced to about 70. The weather has been perfect throughout the tournament, and the courts are in exeellent condition. Several interesting matches have already been witnessed and one which caused considerable excitement was the championship men's douhles, won hy the Smith brothers (Rotorua) from Hickson and Long yesterday afternoon. Both sides had a set to their credit, and the third and deciding one was played into the advantages, concluding with the score eight-six.
