MOTOglSTS' ESCAPE CAR FALLS FROM BRIDGE INTO RAILWAY CUTTING FOUR PERSONS INJURED

MASTERTON, Saturday. Plunging through the railing of the overhead railway bridge near Mauriceville and dropping 25 feet into the eutting below, five occupants of a'. saloon car had a narrow escape from death on Saturday morning. The accident occurred while the car was trying to negotiate a dangerous bridge just South of Mauriceville Station. The northward bound mail train was held up -at Masterton 15 minutes until the line was cleared. The driver a man named Mallowes, of Lower Hutt, escaped with a severe shaldng, but his wife sufferea a badly bruised back, and his son, aged 8 years, was severely cut on the hand. Mrs. Mallowes Senior suffered bruises and shock, and Mr. Mallowes, Senior has a dislocated shoulder and a badly cut face and was admitted' to the Masterton hospital.
