Uruguay has passed a new law forbidding the payment of debenture interest and dividends of companies in foreign currencies. The equivalent in pesos must be deposited in a local bank, and the funds thus accumulated will be released for remittance as to 25 per cent. each month after January 1 next. The stocks of six railway companies largely held in this country are affected by the new law.
