FALL FROM BALCONY

(Press Assn.-

aged inmate of home killed got out of bed unobserved

-By Telegraph — Copyright.)

CHRISTCHURCH, Wed. A woman inmate of the Nazareth House Orphanage and Old Peoples' Home, conducted by the Sisters of Nazareth, fell from a balcony and was killed. She was Mrs. Johanna Maloney, of Geraldine, aged 80 years. At the inquest it was found that safety precautions at the Institute were adequate, and there was no suggestion of neglect or laek at pttention on the part of the Sisters in charge. The evidenee was that Mrs. Maloney had been an inmate for a week. She was senile and infirm mentally, but not particularly feeble for her age. She was in bed apparently restful when a Sister was caled awuy, and during her absence, Mrs Maloney evidently got out of bed and fell from the balcony.
