FATE OF FRENCH LINER DEPENDS ON CUNARD DECISION SIZE SHOULD BE LIMITED

The future of France's giant liner, Isle de France, which is now being built, depends upon the decision regarding the giant Cunarder, according to M. de Chappe de Laine, Min•ister of Mercantile Marine, when speaking in the Chamber of Deputies on a bill authorising the Compagnie Generale Trans-Atlantique to contract a loan of £2,500,000, owing to" financial stress. If the Cunard Company abandoUs its super-ship, France is prepared to follow its example, he said. It is suggested that a conferenee should be held to limit the size of merchant ships.
