BY-LAW CASES
FINED FOR FAILING TO OBTAIN BUILDING PERMIT TWO CH^BGES LAID On an information laid by the Borough Inspector, Mr. D. M. Ford, in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, a charge of failing to obtain a building permit, was brought against M. M. Kunac, of Rotorua. The inspector stated that Kunac had erected a shed which did not conform in several respects to the building by-laws, and had done so without obtaining a permit. Mr. E. Roe, for the defendant, said that Kunac had intended to build a ! permanent shed, But had found that the Borough Council . requirements would make the cost so prohibitive that he had not gone on with the project. Instead, he had erected the shed in question, which was of purely a temporary nature. Defendant was fined £2, with 10/- costs. A similar charge was also preferred against Joseph Te Kiri, who ad1 mitted that he had erected a fowl- ; house at Ohinemutu without obtain- ! ing the necessary permit. Mr. J. 1 Burton, who appeared for the Borough Council, said that the case was a simple one, but that T'e Kiri had | used part of a boundary fence as a | wall of the fowlhouse. Defendant was ! convicted and ordered to pay costs 1 amounting to £1 5s 6d.
