MAGISTRATE'S ADVICE TO YOUTHFUL MOTOR CYCLIST TWO YOUNG MEN FINED Two motor cyclists, regarding whom the Borough Traffic Inspector ' (Mr. D. "M. Ford) stated previous coniplaints had been received, were convicted and fined in the Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of riding their machines in a manner dangeroas to the public. "I have had several complaints about this boy and the one who follows him," said the inspector. "Your Worship knows that I am exceedingly loath to bring boys of this age before the court, but I have had complaints about him." The defendant, Christian Goodger, the inspector added, had driven his motor cycle over the intersection of Malfroy Road and Old Taupo Road at a speed of 35 m.p.h. on the night of December 2, and it was in respect of this offence that the charge was laid. The Magistrate: There are several of them are there not — going up and down Malfroy Road without silencers. Defendant was fined £2, with 10/costs. The clerk asked whether Goodger wanted time to pay, whereupon the ' magistrate remarked that he might sell his motor bicycle to find the money. The second youth, Eric Firth, similar ly charged, pleaded not guilty. The inspector stated that following a complaint received on December '2, he had followed the defendant in his car and noted his speed. Firth had ridden down Malfroy Road at a speed between 30 and 35 m.p.h. He had ridden over the intersection of Malfroy Road and Ranolf Street at a speed of 28 m.p.h. The defendant had nothing to say beyond the fact that hc did not think he had ridden at the speed stated. The magistrate said that defendant had ridden over the most dangerous intersection in Rotorua at a speed which would not have given any othei motorist a chance.
