FLOATING DOCK
EXPECTED vTQ ARRIVE AT WELLINGTON SHORTLY Wellington's floating- dock should arrive in about a week's time., accordng to a statement made at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board by the acting-chair-man, Mr. H. D. Bennett. Mr. Bennett said that a cablegram received by the board on December 10 had given the information that the dock was then 150 miles of Brisbane, which would mean that she would be about 1,300 miles from Wellington at the present date, which meant that the dock should arrive in about a week's time. The board was still unable to say what could be done regarding the reception of the dock on its arrival, as it was not yet known whah hour vhe dock would arrive. It was intended that the members and officials of the board, on the dock's arrival, should go out in one of the launches, and meet the dock at the heads. It would be fully two months before the builders would be ablo to hand the dock over to the board, and about the end of Februavy it was proposed to hold a function on one of the New Zealand Shipoing Company's steamers, which would be in the dock to celebrate the official opening. Mr. C. M. Turrell, manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, said that his company had agreed to allow one of its vessels to be the first to use the new dock. Mr. W. P. Stafford, engineer for the builders of the dock, Swan, Hunter and Wigham-Richardson, Ltd., assured Mr. Turrell that his vessel would rest as comfortably and safely 'n the dock as a baby in its cradle, and would be put back safely into the water again. The dock should be an imposing sight as it comes up the harbour, as it is 50ft. high and 590ft, long, \
