rotorua club recognises serge ant-ma jor bates' fine work PRE SENT ATION FROM MEMBERS Staff Sergeant-Major Bates, who has been responsible to such a large extent for the development of miniature rifle shooting in the district, was the recipient of a presentation from members of the old Arawa Club, at the conclusion of the ,pr e sent ati o n of trophies for the Rotorua Miniature Rifle Club last evening. The Arawa Club was the. first miniature club in the town, but chiefly owing to the enthusiasm of Sergeant Major Bates in extending the membership, was later merged with the R.S.A. Club, into the Rotorua miniature Rifle Club. The presentation, which took the form of a fountain pen and cigarette case, was made by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, who paid a warm tribute to the splendid work carried out by the sergeant-major.
