WELLINGTON, last night. An event unique in the history of Wellington, and one which aroused much interest on the waterfront, occurred to-day, when the Wellington Harbour Board served a writ on the Riehardson steamer Pakura, claiming £5000 for salvage. The Pakura struck an unknown rock" while .approaching the Toia landing on the East Coast on November 7. She was towed ofx on the following day by the Harbour Board's tug Toia, which then towed her to Wellington. The Pakura was extensively damaged, and spent three weeks on the Patent Slip being repaired. She left here last Tuesday on her first trip since the mishap, and returned to Wellington this morning from Gisborne. Shortly after her arrival, a writ was solemnly attached to the Pakura's foremast. It is a wordy legal document of extreme length. '
