LONDON, Monday. Many ex-Labour members of the House of Commons are in straitened circumstances. The Party Executive in inquiring with a view to aiding the hardest cases, though no fund exists for the purpose. Some of the older men, f eeling that their seats were safe, gave up Trade Union positions to younger men. The reinstatement of the older men is difficult to arrange. A few ex-members are .in actual distress, unemployed and penniless. Meantime the party, whose membership has been declining for years is planning a door-to-door search for members, to be known as "the. 2,000,000 dor-step drive."
