TAUPO NOTES

FAREWELL PARTY

TAUPO, Sunday. Mr. F. W. Leggott who has been attached to the staff of the Taupo Post Office for the past three years, was recently the guest at a very enjoyable social and dance, before his departure to take over a new position at Lower Hutt. Over 60 friends were present at the golf club kiosk to farewell Mr. Leggott and a very pleasant evening was spent in music and dancing. On behalf of Mr. Leggott's many friends in Taupo and district, Mr C. H. Clements, acting postmaster, presented the guest of the evening with a well filled wallet of notes, and expressed the general regret at his departure, coupled with good wishes for his success in his new position. Mr G. G. Potts, of the Internal Affairs Department also referred to the excellent relations which had always prevailed between his department and the post office staff. Another enjoyable farewell party was tendered Mr Leggott . at a second evening before he left to take up his new duties. Approximately fifty guests were present at a brjght combined birthday party for Messrs C. H. Clements and A. Garlick, which was held recently at the golf club kiosk. The function took the form of a dance and musical evening, and a delightful sit-down supper concluded a very pleasant gathering.
