CITY HOLD ADVANTAGE City had little trouble in maintaining their lead over Ngongotaha who on going to the wickets on Saturday required 88 runs to wipe off the first innings deficit. In this task they were unsuccessful, their last wicket falling when 53 runs were on the board, giving City an outright win by an innings and 42 runs. Five Ngongotaha wickets were down for 17 runs and had it not been for Barney (10) and Ellis (14) the score .vould have been ridiculously small. Corbett was responsible for five Ngongotaha wickets at the expense of 29 runs and Godsalve secured four for 18. The only other bowler tried, Lack, took the remaining wicket.
