MISHAP ON NEW SOUTH WALES COAST NO PASSENGERS ABOARD

SYDNEY, Sunday. The steamer, Newton Elm grounded eight miles from Crescent ITead, to which news was carried by a horseman, who reported by wireless to the Sydney agent. Captain Toder said the ship was lying loosely on a 'sandy shelf, and it was hoped to float her off by this evening's tide. There is a erew of 30 on board but no passengers. A later report stated the steamer is well aground and in a bad way.
