GERMANY TALKS OF IMPOSING RETALIATORY MEASURES BRITAIN DECLINES DISCUSS'ION

Although sympathising with the German claim for discussion of the new British duties, Great Britain has informed Germany that at present it cannot see its way to negotiate, as withdrawal is impossible. Germany has replied that she is entitled to a free hand in subsequent measures. • The Centre Party in the Prussian Diet is already demanding restriction of the imports of British coal as a retaliatory measure.
