unemployed roadman wins first prize of £2000 small prize to rotorua

WELLINGTON, last night. The First Aid Art Union was drawn here to-night. The first prize of £2000 was won by Mr. James Moynihan, of Hastings. Mr. Moynihan is a man of about 60 years of age. He is unmarried, and recently was a roadman for the Rangitikei County Council, working on the Napier-Taihape Road, but he is now unemployed. He Was listening at a wireless at a friend's house and heard his name announced as the holder of the winning ticket. He was too excited to speak to a reporter and said that he had not discussed, even with his friends, his future intentions. So far as is at present known only 'one prize was won in the Rotorua district, £5 going to E. JMills, who gave the address, The Bluffs, Rotorua. The principal prizes were drawn as follows: — First Prize, £2000: James Moynihan, Hastings. Second Prize, £500. Mrs Grysby, Christchur&h. Third Prize, £250. Geo. Bloomfield, c/o. S. Flipp, Kilbirnie. Four prizes "of £100 each: C. Fairbrother, Gower Street, New Plymouth; Mrs N. Mahnke. Green Park. Canter-

bury; F. Childs, 44 Puru Crescent, Lyall Bay; "Fifty Fifty," Higgins Road, Frankton Junction. Four prizes of £50 each: T. O'Donnell, Private Bag, Cromwell; "4000", 105 Overton Terrace, Hataitai; Mrs Cox, 235 Wairarapa Road, Christchurch; W. J. Muleoek, 34 Lyons Road, Upper Riccarton. Four Prizes o*f £25 each: Mrs J. Y. Love, 42 Tugs Avenue, St. Clair, Dunedin; S. Manson, Halcombe- Rofd, Feilding; A. Eddington, 17 Miller Street, Christchurch; James Austin, P.O., Te Aro. Five Prizes of £10 each: "Anniversary," Mrs J. B. Gray, 39 Totara Crescent, Lower Hutt; Miss M. Gould, 47 Rintoul Street, Wellington; H.Hearns, Turi Road, Hawera; "T. Syndicate," Riverton; "Hard Up," New Plymouth.
