gandhi denies giving interview at rome GREATLY DISTURBED

LONDON, Thursday. Gandhi, on arrival at Port Said, said he was so disturbed over the Italian journalists' interview that personally he had cabled the Indian eircles in London asking for a widespread circulation of a complete repudiation thereof. He said: "I never gave an interview in Rome. It was wholly false." A Rome message dated Deeember 15, said: Mr. Gandhi, the Indian Nationalist leader, although he refused to see British journalists, gave. interviews to other journalists^ in which he made taiore sweeping declarations than he ever vetatured in London. "We won't pay taxes, and we won't work for Britain." he said. "We will completely isolate British authorities and institutions. India wbuld certainly be erushed if she resorted to violence, but she 'has enormous reserves Which Britain Cannot ignore in the shape of passive resistance.
