Drainage Report The Borough drainage engineer (Mr F. J. Lenihan) reported: — "I wish to report that all construction work on the suburban sewerage scheme has now been completed. The last pipe was laid on Novembef 23— one year and eight months from the commencement of operations. "During this period, 50,200 feet of main and branch sewer has been laid, an average of 2,500 feet per month. Taking the conditions into consideration, this is quite a satisfactory rate of progress. "Operations on the pumping station extended over a period of ten months, and on the treatment tank, ahout two months. "Ground movement and water pressure hampered construction right up until the laying of the last pipe. Three attempts at joining up the feeder main to the pumping station were made before success was achieved. "The contractors are now flushing out accumulated silt from the mains and clearing- up the lines. "A final thorough inspection of the whole of the system will be carried out by the Clerk of Works and myself hefore it is taken over from the contractors.
