As the athletes are making the trip to assist the Rotorua Club at its Cai-nival Week meeting, the 'Post" has been asked to appeal to the citizens of the town to provide accommodation for them during their stay here. If anyone is willing to billet one of them the athletic club will be glad if they will leave their names with the "Post." The New Plymouth athletes are Messrs S. A. Black, G. Sullivan, H. L. Thompson and P. Webster.. Mr. Black was for several years holder of the sprint title for the Wanganui-Taranaki district and he also holds the honour of defeating Simpson, the American champion, over 220 yards with only a three yard start. Mr. Sullivan is the present holder of the New Zealand broad jump, hop, step and jump, and javelin titles, and his best figures in the hop, step and jump are within half an inch of the Dominion record. He constantly reaches over 45 fee.t. Mr. Sullivan is under review for the next Olympic Games team. Mr. H. L. Thompson is best in hurdling, and although a young competitor, he shows exceptional promise, while Mr. P. Webster is a sprinter of merit. The four athletes also comprise a relay team to run under the colours of the New Plymouth Club.
