WOOL VALUES ADVANCE AT FIRST DUNEDIN SALE SPIRITED BIDDING

DUNEDIN, Thursday. The first Dunedin Wool Sale of the season was held to-day, when 13,156 bales were offered. The wool opened up well and there were especially nice clips from South Otago and Central Otago, with only a small proportion of held-over wool. Spirited bidding came from a very representative bench of buyers, notably from the Continent, with a keen demand also from Bradford and the local mills. Fine wools were much sought after, and cross-breds also eommanded attention. The priees showed a very gratif ying appreciation as compared with the saies of December last year. Half-breds showed an increase of l£d to 2d and merinos improved by ld to 2d. Even cross-breds were ld to 2d dearer and were more in demand than in Christchurch last week. The top prices for the sale was 12|d for a line of Central Otago merino, and half-breds went as high as 12d, compared with 9id last season. I
