WOMAN KILLED WHEN CAR CRASHES INTO POLE COMPANION ALSO INJURED

DUNEDIN, Wednesday. ( A sudden swerve off the bitumen surface of the Main South Road, followed by a skid in the loose shingle at the side of the road, resulted, this morning, in the death of Mrs Ada Berry, who was killed outright, when a light four cylinder car crashed broadside into a telegraph pole. ■ The driver of the car, Davis Hanfiah, was picked up unconscious, and conveyed to the Dunedin Hospital. Hannah and Mrs Berry left Invercargill at 6 a.m. for Dunedin, and the accident occurred at 11 a.m. ! The unfortunate woman must have ileceived the full force of the impact for her head was completely crushed. Hannah suffered severe head injuries. t It is understood that Hannah eomes from somewhere in the North Island, but for some time past he has been on the West Coast. Mrs Berry was at one time a resident of Hastings.
