Rec. Dec. 16, 11 p.m. OSLO, Wednesday. The- survivors of the Venus, Savage and Erhault, have been comanitted to prison for fourteen days. A previous cable message said: — "Brought ashore near Maaloey, famishing. and exhausted, on a boat bearing the corpses of four of their shipmates, the English first officer, Mr Savage, and the German engineer, a man named Erhault, gave news of the fate of their Polish commander, Captain Visagrotsky and the English and Geiman. members of the crew of the rum-running steamer Venus. The Venus, which was owned in London, and which flew the Panama flag, sank after an eneounter with a customs vessel. The police had been searching for the Venus ever since. The coastguard cutter fired 20 shots at the Venus after she left Lerwick, Shetland Islands, with ' 5000 gallons of liquor on board. Possibly as a result of the gunfire, she ran on the rocks near Bergen. The erew got her off, but the vessel ' was leaking badly. The men pumped desperately until she again grounded. The Venus foundered in 15 fathoms: Members of the crew sought safety, in two boats and on pieces of floating wreekage. Captain Visnogrotsky broke his arm when leaving the Venus and was drowned.
