SYDNEY, Tuesday. The old depositors in the New South Wales Government Savings Bank are rejoicing to-day at being able to withdraw 10 per cent. of their deposits under the amalgamation scheme with the Commonwealth Bank. It is estimated that abont £8,000,000 will immediately he released, but a eonsiderable proportion will he required in the case of small depositors for liquidating debts incurred during the eight months since the State institution closed its doors. City business men. however, anticipate a fillip to Christmqs trade.
