Motor-Car Stolen. A small motor car owned by Mr. P. A. Kusabs was taken from outside the Masonic Lodge in Fenton Street. Rotorua between 8.10 and 9.30 last evening. Mr. Kusabs immediately reported - the matter to the police. Rotorua Fishing Much Improved Fishing in Lake Rotorua is*improving and is better than that -experienced last season, according to some of the well-known anglers who visit this district annually. Colonel Blakeley, who fly fishes practically every day in the Hamurana area, bagged the limit last Thursday, and is reported to be making good catches every day. Mr. Suttie, fishing from the launch Symbol, landed 12 fine trout with the fly on Tuesday in the same area. He is also getting good daily averages. A Melbourne visitor, Mr. Clark, trolling from the launch Mararoa, has caught over 100 fish since his arrival a few weeks ago, and another fly fisherman, Mr. Myers, is also having good sport. The wind, which has been northerly, has not been conducive of good catches, and most suecess has been secured in the Hamurana area where the water is sheltered. Rarotongau Chiefs Visit Chief Tinirau, of the Nakea' Nui Ariki tribe, will arrive in Rotorua from Rarotonga, by the express to~ morrow. In the evening the members of the Arawa tribe will entertain their guest, according to Maori custom in Tamatekapua at 8 p.m.
Vegetables for Christmas Vegetables from the Rotorua community garden are rapidly becoming ready for use. A plentiful supply of lettuce was available for disfcribution on Saturday last. During this week and before Christmas Eve other vegetables will be ready and will he- distributed among the needy families in Rotorua. The Rotorua Women's Club ar8 in charge of this work and Mrs. Campny, Hinemoa Street, has kindly offered the use of her premises as a depot for the vegetables as they arrive from the garden. Christmas Cheer An anonymous donor has very kindly given a whole dressed sheep to the Women's Cluh for distrubutation next week. Mr. Montague has given 201bs. of Christmas raisins, Mr. Mitchell (the Cross Roads) 15 pots of jam, also a Christmas cake and a plum pudding. Members of the club are busy at present making up parcels for Christmas week. Lecture to Motor Mechanics Mr. Appleby, lecturer in engineering at Auckland University College, last night delivered a lecture on teehnical suhjects of professional interest to mechanics employed in the motor trade in Rotorua at Spedding and Co.'s garage. On Monday evening Mr. Appleby gave a similar lecture in the R.M. Co.'s garage. Yuletide Concert In connection with the Yuletide concert to be held on the evening of Christmas Day in the Town Square, vocalists and instrumentalists willing to give their services are asked to attend a practice of the eombined | choirs to be held in the Bainbridge ; Methodist Chureh on Friday next at [ 7 p.m. Wednesday Cricket. The following teams selected from members of the Wednesday Cricket Association will play a match in the Government Grounds _ at 2 p.m. today: — A Team. "Cinderella" known to the thousands of child listeners to Station 1YA Auckland, has been touring the Rotorua district meeting her small radio friends at first hand. She has been staying with her sister, Mrs M. Davidson, of Whaka Road. Motor Collision. Two cars were damaged during the week-end in a collision which occurred on the Ngongotaha Road when a car driven by Mr. H. J. Marks, traffie inspector of Whakatane, collided with another car driven by Mr. N. Cole, of Auckland. Mr. Cole was proceeding towards Ngongotaha and was driving behind a service car. He did not observe Mr. Mark's car approaching from the opposite direction with the result that a collision occurred when Mr. Cole swung out to pass the service car.
