MAJESTIC
TO-DAY AND TO-NIGHT There is something new under the sun. We saw it last night — and heard it also and were given the treat of the season. It was offered to public view for the first time last night when the premiere of the new DeSylva, Brown and Henderson Fox Moxietone musical comedy, "Just Imagine," was held at the Majestic Theatre. And in our humble, critical opinion it is a worthy successor to their previous great success, "Sunny Side Up." "Just Imagine" is speetacularly original in theme and treatment and is superlative entertainment and we believe that you will class it the same as we do, so make it a point to see this triumph as soon as possible. It is laid in a 1890 setting, when the world has changed materially in virtually every element except romance. The story of the love of the "Lindbergh of 1980" in the person of John Garrick for Maureen O'Sullivan is beset with the traditional difficulties of romance of all time, but, of course, this being a musical comedy, true love conquers in the end. E1 Brendel, the hilariously funny Swedish comedian, has the principal role and moves in and out of the story at frequent intervals, providing a generous portion of comedy. He is ably assisted by the vivacious Marjorie White and Frank Albertson, the latter essaying his first light comedy role with marked success. Song hits include "I'm Only the Words, You are the Melody," "Old Fashioned Girl" and "Never Swat a Fly" being particularly outstanding. The two instrumental numbers which supply the accompaniment for the big dance numbers, are particularly excellent, and also will prove popular with the fox-trot fans.
