OAMARU, Monday. When an ammonia liquid reeeiver btirst at the Waitaki Farmers' freezing works at Pukeri thi? afternoon, John Norton, aged 70, married, lost his life and three others were injurOd, one of whom, Ross Clarke, lies in Oamaru Hospital in a serious condition. The men were working in the engineers' fitting room when the accident happened. Two succeeded in escaping, Norton was dragged from the room by a rescuer in a gas helmet. Life, however, was then extinct. An inquest was opened and adjourned for identification.
