DETAILS OF UNEMPLOYMENT , ROARD'S SPECIAL GRANT ' SUBSIDIES ON WAGES At a meeting of the Rotorua Unemployment Committee held last xiight, advice was received of the details of the special Christmas grant for use in the Rotorua district, towards proyidipg extra work for men employed under No. 5 Scheme who are in necessitous circumstances. The money available is to be used primarily in subsidising work on private property to the extent of 50 per cent. of the wag.es paid, the standard rate of subsidy payable by the Unemployment Bqard being 6/3 per day for married inen and 4/6 per day for single men. Many applicatiqns have already been received, and early application is necessary, as the subsidy will be paid only on work completed before Saturday next, December 19.. Full details pf the scheme may be obtained on application to the secretary of the Unemployment Committee at the Yictoria Institute.
