Ryder) states: — In the Junior University Seholarship examination, T. A. Carnachan passed with credit, being 18th fdr New Zealand On the credit list. \ believe this is the first occasion oii which a pupil from this distript has heeii plaeed in this examination, and Carnachan's effort has been a particularly meritorious one, honours in this examination beng competed for hy the most hrilliant scholars in New Zeaj land secondary schools. ' C. W. Randerson and A. G. Cqttrell also passed the examination.
M. M. Bertram, gained matriculation and medical prqjiininary; P. Brooker, M. Nelson, 0. C. Pipspn, A. M. Isdale, A. W. Holland, J. H. Ilampson, R. J. Devin, A. E, Graham, and G. W. Davis gained Matriqujqtion; A. S, Edge and D. R. Hart passed the Engineering Preliminary examinatiqn. The success pf G.. Vf. Davis is outstanding since he is a second year pupil in the Senior schoql, " and gained highest marks among our pupils in Latin, Frencli, and Cheniigtry. In addition to the above, eight: pupils passed in every suhject r'er quired fo.r the examination, but were unsuccessful in gainipg the require4 average percentage over all'suhjects. A Senior National Scholarship was gained by C. W. Davis and R. J, Barter also passed this examination. . A Junior National Scholarship was g&ined hy June McGinley. ! C. C. Browme, "Winifred D. Steele, Joyce Moule, Jessie E. Stonehouse, j Winifred Mehrtens, Joan N. Barber, A. G. Goulter, and R. F. P. Barber were successful, in the Public Service Entrance examination.
Mention should he made of the suc- , cesses of some of our Sixth Form pupils in this year's degree examination. J. Hampson passed first year * terms in Latin, while C. W; Randerson passed in ' English aird History, and N. F. Keane in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. Results haye •just come to hand that N. F. Keaue has passed his first seetioii for his B.Sc., in these two subjects."
