UNEMPLOYED WORKERS
"UNEMPLOYED."
(To the Editor). Sir, — In reply to "councillors' " remarks which were published in the columns of your paper to-day it would be just as well for "Councillor" to stick to facts. The single unemployed worker referred to, a "doss-house" resident, accepted employment with Councillor, under what is known as No. 4A scheme, which clearly states that work under this scheme must be of a developmental nature (not cow-spanking) and Councillor should be well aware of that fact. Nevertheless Councillor evidently over-rode these regulations, and requested the "doss-house" resident to do a little cow juggling, which was promptly and firmly declined, so therefore the doss-house resident wended his weary way on to Arapuni, where he obtained employment, at which he again did not last long as he was taken ill, and is at present an inmate of King George V. Hospital, which also goes to prove, that the member of Councillor's family who saw him (the doss-house resident) reading penny horribles in the Sanatorium grounds, was not looking too well. — I am, etc.
