AUCKLAND, Thursday. Mr. Don Harkness, designer of Mr. "Wizard" Smith's car, confirms a statement in the Sydney "Sun" last week that an air fiight will be attempted from Sydney the day Smith tries to break the land record the machine alighting at the Ninety Mile Beach. The pilots have not been finatly selected. The machine will be fitted with one of Mr. Harkness' engines. The type of the plane is being kept a secret. It will- carry two pilots, and the proposal is to follow Air Commodore Kingsford Smith's route to Wellington, then fly up the coast to the beach and back to Auckland. The plane has a range of 22 hours, apd is expected to average a speed of over 100 miles hourly and make the trip in twelve hours. Mr. Don Harkness says the chief pilot will he a well-known Australian airman, and the fiight is sure to he successful.
