TENNIS

TUHOURANGI CLUB COURTS OFFICIALLY OPENED There was a large gathering of members of the Tuhourangi Lawn Tennis Club at the offieial opening of their courts at Whakarewarewa on Saturday. The patron, Mr. W. T. Morrison, officiated. Messrs. Mita Taupopoki and A. Wiari, the elders of the tribe, welcomed the visitors. Mr. Morrison then gave a brief summary of the activities of the club since it was formed, and said that as patron and a life member of the club he was very pleased to declare the courts open. Mrs. W. M. Menzies drove the first ball over the net, and the courts were then declared open. Progressive matches were played during the afternoon and an adjournment for afternoon tea was called at 3,30 p,m.
