WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING .« TOTAL DOWN NEARLY HALF

WELLINGTON, Monday. A reduction of approximately 5Q per cent. has been madp in stakqs at the Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting. The total being £6285 as against £11,500 last year. The principal handicap, the Wellington Cup, has been reduced from £1500 (£950 and a gold cup to the winner) to £750 (£600 to the winner), The Telegraph Handicap is £350 as against £750 and the Wellington Stakes £750 compared with £1000. Other events on the first day are reduced in proportion, the hack races being reduced from £260 to £160. On the second day, the Racing Cluh Handicap is £500, (£300 to the winner) the Duoro Cup £300 (winner £210) Metropolitan Handicap £300 and the January Handicap £200. On the third day the principal handicap changes are Consolation

Handicap, which has been altered to the Summer Handicap and the stake mer handicap has been eliminated reduced from £500 to £350. Th© sumand the Welter Handicap put in its place. The City Handicap of £500 has been reduced to £250 and. as on the first day, all minor races and twoyear old events share in the reduction.
