It is too early to form an opinion as to the extent of the Christmas currency demands, but appearances indicate the possibility that withdrawals will be restrained in view of the January income tax demands. Usually between £20,000,000 and £25,000,000 -are withdrawn a few weeks before Christmas, which is returned to the banks in the middle of January.
