ROTORUA HUNT
MEETING OF ASSOCIATXQN. GYMICHANA NEXT EASTER. A meeting of the Rotorua Hunt Association was held in the office of the hon. secretary, Mr. E. La Tro.be Hill. Dr. H. Bertram was in the chair and others present were: Mrs. T. Jackson, iViessrs. Managh, Meredith, A. W. Jlarlce, Rikau, Giesen, Knox, Parlane, Jackson, Ryan, Smith, Steele and T. Jackson. Regarding a complaint received in eonnection with damage caused to fences on a property during one- of che hunt meets, an apology was sent and the rnatter satisfactorily settled. The chairman explained to the meet.ng that such a happening should not aave occurred and that if members .vere not more careful in future a member responsible for anything which caused complaint of a similar aature would have to be severely dealt with and would be liable to disquali.ication. General discussion toolc place regarding responsibility for the control af followers at meets and it was decided that in future at least one memoer of the area fields committee be letailed to attend to the closing of gates and other details requiring attention. He would also report any member who did not observe his requests to a committee empowered to Jeal with offences. It was considered that certain alterations at the kennels were necessary to provide for better sanitation and iiving conditions for the hounds. The yard required concreting and water required to be laid on to some point near the kennels. A safe was also necessary for the better protection of the hounds' food. On Mr. Parlane's motion, it was decided to leave matters in the hands of the master, 'de-puty-master and secretary, with power to act. Mr. Jackson brought forward the question of the advisability of holding another gymkhana this year during fche holiday season and it was decided that application be made to the Rotorua Racing Club and the Arawa Park Domain Board for the use of their grounds and appointments for a possible holiday function on Easter Monday. The services rendered by the whip; Mr. F. Smith, were« eulogised by Mr. Jackson, and it was decided that a suitable presentation be made to him.
