WELLINGTON, Saturd The Minister of Railways, the ' Hon. G. W. ilorbes,. annoupces ti Mr. H. H. Sterling, will retire fr the position of . general manager from to-morrow, December 6 and 1 been appointed chairman of the Rs ways Board from the same date, v Colonel J. J. Esson, who has resij ed. Mr. P. G. Roussell, the present g> eral superintendent of transport, 1 oeen appointed general managr. , The board announces thaf^Mr. Dennehy, the assistant gener-AA m: ager, has retired on superannuat: and will be succeeded by Mr. G. Mackley, ehief clerk to the railv; head office. • The board bas also made tbe f lowing appointments: — Mr. E. Casey to be chief engine vice Mr. Widdop, retired on superj nuation. The position of inspecting. engin in the civil engineering hranch, at p: sent „held by Mr. Bertinshaw, is be .aipalgapiated with the position assistant chief engineer, lately occi ied by Mr. Davidson (retired on , perannuation), and Mr. Bertinshaw to be promoted to the office. - Mr. H. W. Beasley, district eng eer at Wanganui, is to be district gineer at Auckland. Mr. H. L. Smith, „ district engineer at Obaku to be district engineer at Wellingt Mr.; P. H.;.Morey, .district engineer Invercargill, to.- be district engim at Dunedin; Mr. H. C. Lusty, assi ant district engineer at Christchuri "is to he district engineer at Inverci gill; Mr. I. J.
