Broken Hill Proprietary and used in the intef-State trade, over the Newdastle steOl workers, culminated in a free fight in the Newcastle Trade's Hall to-day. Nearly 50 men kicked and fought one another until theif f aces were eovered with blodd and their clothes were in ribbons. At one stage there ivas almost a tragedy when two struggling men were iii dariger of f allirig over a balcony. The conflict occupied about ten ininutes and stopped as suddenly as it had started before the police could take a halid. The dispute arose over themanning of the O're freighters Iron'Master and Iron Prince. The Seamen's Union Wanted additional men put on the ship's hold and threatened to expel the crews if they took the vessels to sea.1 The crews insisted that they were mannirig the vessels ifi accordarice with th'e rules governing these disputes ahd refused to he coerced iiito a strlke by the milithrits.
