P.C. PATCH
FAITHFUL NORTH SYDNEY POLICE DOG IS LOST. Patch, the pride of the North Sydney police force, is missing, and his master, Constable Leary, is heartbroken. For, although Patch is only a crossbred, he is one of the best thiefcatchers in New South Wales. His ■ last arrest was made on October 3, when he caught a man who had outdistanced Leary in a long chase. Patch disappeared from the North Sydney police station last Sunday, and no trace of him has since been found. Constable Leary believes that one of the faithful anim'al's enemies has done away with the dog. If that is so, the culprit will receive a severe handling from the young constable if found, for Leary's love for that dog is very real. The dog always accompanied Leary on his night rounds, and has several arrests to his credit. He once assisted in the capture of a man who had drawn a revolver on "the boss." It looks as if he is dead . . . and if he is his loss will be felt, not only by the men at the police station, but by residents of the district, for Patch has helped to keep North Sydney safe.
