ELDERLY MAN FOUND INJURED ON HAWKE'S BAY FARM DEATH ON WAY TO HOSPITAL

■ WAIPUKURAU, Thurs'. At 6, o'clock last night George Davies (63), retired, was found injured in a field -on the Hatuma Road, and he died whilst being taken to the hospital. The injuries were apparently the result of an explosion, but no firearms or material were found in the neighbourhood. At the inquest this morning deceased's son, Maurice George Davies, gave evidence of identification. He last saw his father alive on the morning of election day when he left to record his yote. He was then in his usual state of health. The inquest was adjourned for one week. Deceased leaves a widow and family of six.
