FEDERAL TREASURER SUGGESTS NEW CURRENCY PLAN FOR AUSTRALIA MR. THEODORE'S PLEDGE SYDNEY, Thursday. "Australia has a golden opportunity to create its own eredit and Ifend it to itself," said the Federal Treasurer, Mr. E. G. Theodore, in a speech last night. Mr. Theodore pledged himself and the Lahour Government to take adequate measures to guard against the evils of inflation. At a later^ stage he said: "In . formulating a new system of inonetary control I recognise and acknowledge the imperative need to guard against anything in the nature of uncontrolled inflation " - of currency." He added that the unemployed army could only become employed if monetary supplies were increased.
