URGES STERILISATION OF MENTALLY DEFECTXVE PERSONS CURSE OF PROPAGATION
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
LONDON, Wednesday. Commenting at Leeds on the betrayal of a half-witted girl, the bachelor judge, Mr. Justice McCardie, who earlier in the week outspokenly urged birth control instruetion for poorer class wives, trenchantly criticised the nation's indifference to permitting mental defectives to propagate. The public must have courage to face the qpestion of sterilisation, he said, instead of allowing the curse to continue unahated. He mentioned a recent case which came before him of a mentally defective mother with nine similar children, four of whom were daughters and already reproducing their own kind.
