BASKETBALL DANCE

! In connection with the success of the recent Unemployment Relief Drive in Rotorua the Basketball Association deserves a large measure of credit. Their dance, held last Thursday evening in the Majestic Ballroom,. met with a -response due to their untiring eff orts. The > thanks of all are due to those who helped to make the dance so successful, from both the social and the financial point of view. All kinds of spring flowers decorated the supper rooms, and the hall itself, while a delightful summer aspect was added by the cream fiannels of the gentlemen dancers and the bright frocks of the ladies. The committee in charge of the supper, decorations and entertainment programme. comprised, Mrs. E. G. Guy, Miss F. Bates, Miss D. Emeny, Miss N. Devin, Miss J. Isdale and Miss R. Jo'hnson. Mrs. Guy, for her capable organisation and Miss F. Bates for her generous response and unstinted efforts, deserve special mention. During the evening Father Spierings spoke briefly about the Relief Drive, and without detracting ' from the brightness of the evening managed to bring home to his hearers the crying need of some of the people in the town. Be thanked all those who had helped to make the dance such a success and paid tribute to all members of the Rotorua Basketball Association. Miss Del Thompson later gave an exhibition of the Ameriean tap dance, generously responding to an encore.
