FANCY DRESS DANCE
A highly successful plain and f ancy dress dance, organised by the St. Luke's Girls' Club, was held in St. Luke's Hall on Monday night. The hall was decorated with all the freshness and gaiety that characterises the club dances, * the predominating flowers being brown and gold marigolds. The music was supplied by Messrs. ' E. Munson and C. Castleton, and their contribution towards the success of the evening was certainly well appreciated. The committee in charge of the arrangements comprised Mrs. G. Nelson, Miss Mactier, Miss E. Hitchen, Miss N. Allen, Miss G. Dillon, Miss G. Pakes, Miss E. Sharpe, Miss R. Campny, Miss C. Kelly. Miss Iles and Miss Harty acted as judges, and finally awarded prizes as follow: — Most original costume, Miss G. Dillon, as Gay Bird; prettiest costume, Miss C. Kelly, as Spanish Lady; best couple, Miss J. Cottrell and Miss O. Dalgleish, as Bell Boy and Girl; best men's costume, Mr. R. Brain. The winners of the Monte Carlo dance were Miss S. Wilson and Mr. R. Brain. During the evening extras were played by Miss Mary Weal. Among those present were: — Mrs. G. Nelson, black satin beaute; Mrs. M. Clark, as Sailor Girl; Miss O. Beamish, as Persian Fantasy; Miss E. Price, as Crinoline; Miss T. West, as Domino; Miss A. Woolliams, as Early Victorian; Miss B. Wilson, as Spanish Peasant; Miss J.
