CALCUTTA, Tues. "I am completely mystified," declared Sir C. Raman, the famous seientist, after witnessing a remarkable demonstation of poison swallowing by a Madrasi Yogi, Narasingha Swami, Calcutta University, under the strictest scientific supervision. s The man lapped up every available known kind of deadly poison, showing a preference for cyanide potassium, varying this with broken glass and nails, without ill effects. The poison was retained in the stomach, and he was afterwards xrayed, the position of the articles being located. Sir C. Raman declared that the performance is a definite challenge to modern science. Swami declared that he is a student of "Hatha Yoga," meaning suspended animation.
