millers challenged to accept flat rate MR. WILKINSON'S OFFER ELTHAM, Tuesday. A challenge was thrown out hy Mr C. A. Wilkinson, of Eltham, last night, to the Millers' Association and the Canterbury wheat growers in comhating the published statement that the highest av-erage duty on flour for the past three years was approximatgly £2 11s. He produced invoices on the last two shipments of flour, showing that the duty paid was £10 5s and £10 10s per ton respectively. Mr. Wilkinson's challenge was that if they would agree to the abolition of the sliding scale of duties and accept a straightout duty of £3 per ton for flour and an equival-ent duty for wheat he was prepared to drop altogether his agitation for a reduction in the duty. ,
