PRESENT PARLIAMENT BESCRJBED BY CANDIDATE. "Members of Parliament are not there for ever, remember. Cromwell threw them out. We want a Cromwell in this country." This indictment of the New Zealand Parliament was voiced by Mr. E. W. Nicolaus, the Citizens' Movement candidate in Wellington Central, last evening "They can be easily fixed," he added, "if the people make up their minds that they have had enough." An interjector: "You would be a long shot in Parliament — one against 79." Mr. Nicolaus: "Yes, but one Long Tom bgainst pea rifles " A voice: "They would ignore you." Mr. Nicolaus. "The dignity has gone from the House — with its Davy Jonesse, its Lysnars, and its McDougalls." The voice: "What -about Pete:1 Fraser ? " Mr. Nicolaus: "We have never met But we shall probably meet on 2nd December." Ihe voice: "He will be one ahead 0" you." Mr. Nicolaus: "I am not counting my chickens be?ore they are hatched. But I have an idea they are going to hatc-h out very well." The persintent voice: "Oh, you arr a second Phar Lap." Referripg further to Parliament Mr. Nicolaus said: "The Parliament of New Z««Iand is a snmtters' Parliament; it ahvrys'hrs bcen." "It ahvays will hc," agreed an interjector in the front seat. Uuder the present system of voting, the candidate added, the rural community enioyed an advantage of 28" pcr cent in clectoral power, and the resn't was that the farmers secured five scats in Parliament more tlian they were entitled to. *
