Busy Day The unemployment levy counter at the Rotorua Post Office was busy all day yesterday *accepting payments which were made on the last day of the month to escape the penalty for late payment, Sewerage Work Work on the borough sewerage pumping station in King Street is now completed and the contractors have also practically completed the conj struction of 400 feet of rising main to carry the sewage to the higher levels. The only difficulty now holding np the work is the incursion of water into the main which is being constructed to link up the station with the reticulation on the lower levels of the town. Pumps have been working for some time keeping down the level of the water in this main and the full 250 feet of pipes have now been laid in readiness for joining up. It is expected that this work will be completed about the end of ! the week and all that will then remain I to be done will be the installation of | of the actual pumping machinery. It is expected that 200 private sewerage connectioiis will be1 necessary as soon as the station is completed. High School Breafe-Up j The annual prize giving ceremony of the Rotorua High School will take place on the evening of December 14,- the day on which the school will break up for the Christmas holidaysi The speaker of the evening and the hall in which the break-up will be held have not yet been decide'd. | Returns From Concert ' Returns from the Rotorua High School annual concert on Friday night reached the very satisfactory nett total of £50. This is slightly less than the figures for last year, but is regarded as being an- excellent rej turn in view of the prevailing hard j times and the fact that there were j other attractions in the town on the night of the concert. The proceeds of the concert are to be devoted to the school magazine fund. Athletsc Meeting Entries. "You will observe I said 'in support' of each of the candidates," replied Mr. Jackson smiling. "I have officiated at a meeting in support of Mr. Clinkard- al- ; though it was not his meeting." (Laughter.) The Winning Horse. "I have noticed that the same people often attend all these political meetings," said- the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, at the meeting of the Country Party candidate, Mr. D.
