BOXING FOR WOMEN LATEST FASHION IN LONDON. LONDON, Monday. Sparring and shadow-boxing for the purposes of slimming is the latest fash'ion among hundreds of London's fashionable women. It has become so popular that a West End Club is being formed of its devotees. Miss Annie Newton, physical culture expert, told the "Star" that boxing is the most invigorating hobhy any woman could wish. "Some find it excellent for slimming; other s as a body-builder," she said. For Housewives. "It would no't suit everyone, owing to its strenuousness, but if schoolgirls had a few lessons in boxing and less tennis and hockey they would become stronger and more useful citizens. "There is no reason why an ordinarily healthy woman of from 20 to 30 should not adopt boxing. Tired housewives taking up boxing forget their domestic worries and become new women. "I do not believe that boxing is degrading. It is just a healthy sport."
